
Wambach 'Head'Lines ESPN on Wednesday

Elma, N.Y. (Wednesday, May 15, 2013) - Western New York Flash forward Abby Wambach will be the center of a new ESPN Films' SEC "Storied", set to make its television debut tonight at 8 p.m. Abby Head On will air on ESPNU at the eight o'clock hour and will highlight the career of the USWNT striker.
Per the network's website, "The film chronicles Abby Wambach's soccer career thus far, from winning a national title at Florida to her rise as a U.S. women's national team star only four goals away from breaking Mia Hamm's all-time international scoring record."
The film will merge highlights of Wambach's career with interviews from the forward herself, teammates, coaches, family, friends and media members who have followed her career.
Wambach played college soccer at the University of Florida, a member of the SEC Conference. On Saturday, the Rochester native scored both of the Flash goals in a 2-1 victory over the previously undefeated FC Kansas City. She leads WNY with three goals on the year.
After her performance against Kansas City, Wambach was selected as the Week 5 NWSL Player of the Week by voting media members.
Wambach and the Flash will return to action on May 24th, when welcome the Chicago Red Stars to Sahlen's Stadium for the first time this season. The match is set to kick-off at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for the game are available online, or by calling the Sahlen's Stadium Box Office at (585) 454-KICK.
