New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats, the AA Eastern League affiliate of the American League's Minnesota Twins, made two roster transactions today. OF Antoan Richardson has been promoted to AAA Rochester, and INF Deibinson Romero has joined New Britain from an extended Spring Training assignment in Fort Myers, FL.

Richardson, a native of Nassau, Bahamas who played at Vanderbilt, is in his first season with the Twins organization after signing as a Free Agent in February of this year. Now in his ninth year of professional baseball, the 30-year-old appeared in 33 games for New Britain and departs with a solid .336 BA with 14 RBI. He is also tied for 1st in the League's Stolen Base category with 14. Richardson has Major League experience, having appeared in 9 games for Atlanta during the 2011 season.

Romero, a native of Perdenales, DR, returns to New Britain after having played for the Rock Cats in portions of both the 2011 and 2012 seasons. In 2012, the 27-year-old appeared in 138 games in a New Britain uniform, batting .267 with 19 home runs and 78 RBI. That solid performance earned him a spot on the 2012 Eastern League Postseason All-Star team.

Both moves are effective immediately.

The Rock Cats open a 3-game series in Bowie, MD tomorrow evening before returning home on Friday night (5/17) to begin a 7-game homestand against New Hampshire (5/17-19) and Binghamton (5/20-23). Good seats remain available for all games on this upcoming homestand.
