Western New York Flash News Release

Elma, N.Y. (Thursday, May 9, 2013) - The Western New York Flash have announced that midfielder Carli Lloyd will be joining the team after being medically cleared for contact play. Lloyd will be in market by the end of the day Thursday and will join team training on Friday.

The U.S. WNT midfielder suffered a shoulder injury during the National Team's 3-0 win over Iceland in the Algarve Cup on March 6th. After an MRI, she was diagnosed with a non-displaced greater tuberosity fracture in the left shoulder.

Lloyd was one of the Flash's two U.S. WNT allocations, being assigned to the team on January 11th with teammate Abby Wambach. The Delran, N.J. native has recorded 43 goals in 154 caps with the national team, including both goals in the 2012 Gold Medal Olympic final against Japan, which the US won 2-1.

Any media member that would like to attend practice or request interviews should contact Jackie Maynard at jackie.maynard@wnyflash.com.

The Flash will return to action after 10 days off, facing undefeated FC Kansas City at 7:35 p.m. Saturday night at Sahlen's Stadium. Tickets are available online or by calling the Sahlen's Stadium box office at (585) 454-KICK.
