National Finals of Sueño MLS 2013 Kick-Off Thursday in Los Angeles

NEW YORK & LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, May 7, 2013) - Some of America's most talented young soccer players will travel to Los Angeles this week for the National Finals of Sueño MLS 2013 - Presented by Allstate, the nationally-televised search for the best young soccer players in the country.

The 18 National Finalists, which include 15 field players and three goalkeepers chosen from the nearly 3,000 trialists from across the country, will head to The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA from May 9 to 12 for four days of competition and mentoring by top soccer legends, including Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama, former U.S. National World Cup defender Jeff Agoos, former Mexico National Team goalkeeper Felix Fernandez and MLS' Technical Director Alfonso Mondelo. The field players will be battling for the Sueño MLS 2013 - Presented by Allstate trophy while the three goalkeepers are vying for the Allstate "Good Hands®" top goalkeeper - El Portero Allstate award. Both winners will be announced live on Sunday, May 12 on Univision Network's República Deportiva, which has chronicled the competition in a "reality show within a show" format.

NOTES:

Now in its seventh year, open tryouts for Sueño MLS 2013 - Presented by Allstate were staged by three Major League Soccer teams, including first-time host Colorado Rapids, as well as returning hosts D.C. United and LA Galaxy. Up to 500 confirmed tryout spots were made available in each city on a first come, first served basis, where five field players were chosen by club scouts to represent the team at the National Finals.

In addition, the Allstate "Good Hands®" top goalkeeper award - El Portero Allstate - is being presented for the third consecutive year. One goalkeeper at each of the three local tryouts was selected as a goalkeeper finalist and will compete in the National Finals for the opportunity to be named El Portero Allstate and train with an MLS team. El Portero Allstate will be selected in conjunction with the winner of Sueño MLS 2013 - Presented by Allstate, and will be mentored by Mexican goalkeeping legend and Republica Deportiva co-host, Felix Fernandez.
