Western New York Flash News Release
Elma, N.Y. (Thursday, April 25, 2013) - The Western New York Flash have announced that Abby Wambach will not be active for Saturday's home opener against the Boston Breakers. Wambach will be sidelined for precautionary measures after being listed as day-to-day with a head injury.
The Flash forward was injured during Saturday's 1-1 draw with the Washington Spirit. In the second half of play, Wambach was struck in the back of the head with the ball, but stayed in for the remainder of the game.
Wambach is progressing each day, but will be taking the necessary steps to ensure a full, healthy recovery.
The Rochester native will be in attendance for the 7:35 p.m. contest and will be on the team's sideline for support. Wambach will also be interviewed during the halftime break.
The Flash follow up Saturday's match with a mid-week rematch against Sky Blue FC on Wed. May 1st at 7:05 p.m.
