Rochester Rhinos News Release
ROCHESTER, NY. The Rochester Rhinos open their 18th professional season in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, April 13th at 7:30 PM against first year USL PRO club VSI Tampa Bay FC. Last season the Rochester Rhinos finished second in the USL PRO Regular Season.
They earned a first round bye in the 2012 USL PRO Playoffs, but they lost to the Charleston Battery in the USL PRO Semi-Finals in a penalty shootout 4:3 after the game ended 1:1 in regulation. 2012 was the 17th consecutive season the Rhinos qualified for the playoffs, but the loss marked the 11th consecutive year that the club failed to win a championship. This season the Rhinos are eying a return to the championship game for the first time since 2006.
"The goal is always the same here in Rochester." Rhinos Head Coach Jesse Myers said. "The expectation is that you win a championship. You're aware of that when you come here, and that expectation, that commitment to winning year in and year out is what makes this such a great club."
