Battery Tops Georgia Southern 4-1

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery topped Georgia Southern in a pre-season scrimmage played this evening at Blackbaud Stadium. After leading 3-0 at half-time the Battery only allowed one second half goal and scored another themselves to get the 4-1 win.

Battery got on the board first in the 10' with a goal from Haviel Cordeves and then Jose Cuevas found the back of the net in the 28' to make it 2-0. In the 31'the Georgia Southern goalkeeper misplayed the ball and it bounced over his head and into the net to make it 3-0.

Georgia Southern got on the board early in the 2nd half in the 50' to give make it 3-1 but trialist Gibson Bardsley found the back of the net in the 61' to make it 4-1 and secure the win for the Battery.

The Charleston Battery continues its pre-season schedule Thursday night with a 6 PM match vs. Coastal Carolina at Blackbaud Stadium.

All preseason home games are free to attend except for Saturday, March 23 versus Wilmington Hammerheads; tickets for this rematch of the 2012 USL PRO Championship game will be $7 for bleacher seats and $12 for club seats with group discounts available through the Battery ticket office.
