VooDoo Legend Announced as Guest PA Announcer

January 18, 2013 - Arena Football League (AFL)
New Orleans VooDoo News Release

One of the most recognizable names in VooDoo history is that of Quarterback, Danny Wimprine. Wimprine was the QB for the 2008 and 2011 VooDoo and then decided to retire from football in late 2011 after the birth of his first son, Madden. Danny's roots in New Orleans are MUCH deeper than his time between the walls. Danny was a state champion quarterback for Curtis High School in the mid-1990's and leads the team at River Parish Disposal, the family business, where "Business Stinks, But It's Picking Up."

This Saturday, as the VooDoo take the field (of a different kind), Ameriprise Financial presents The 2nd Annual Preaux's vs. Jeaux's 7-on-7 Charity Flag Football Game against PlayNOLA All-Stars, Danny Wimprine will be in the booth as Special Guest PA Announcer for the game. Preaux's vs. Jeaux's will benefit The Miracle League of Greater New Orleans and features three games during the afternoon of Saturday, January 19th. Game 1 begins at 1:00 PM and features The New Orleans VooDoo Dolls vs. The Ladies of Ameriprise Financial. Game 2 will start at 2:00 PM and sell showcase the Athletes of The Miracle League of Greater New Orleans on two teams along with their celebrity assistants. The third and final game of the day will be the main event at 3:00 PM with the PlayNOLA All-Stars and Ameriprise Financial facing the New Orleans VooDoo! Word is, Ameriprise Financial has stacked their team with five veterans returning from the Middle East in hopes of keeping up with the athletes on Team VooDoo.

A NOTE FROM DANNY WIMPRINE: "The Preaux's vs. Jeaux's game is an awesome time for the Voodoo organization to reach out it an positive way in the community. The chance to team up with the Miracle League gives these kids an opportunity to see athletes they admire and allow them moments they will never forget. For the players to see the smiles on these kids faces makes the memories just as sweet for them as well. The Dolls game is always fun to watch and see the tenacity and competitiveness of those young ladies. The Voodoo vs. PlayNola was much closer last year than expected and I'm sure gonna be more fun and exciting this year and give the players time to showcase their talents and have a good time. What a great day for the family to come out and enjoy the many events, hope to see you there!"

"We're so happy to have Danny back as the Special Guest PA Announcer," said Jason Coffel, VP of Operations for the VooDoo. "He is and always will be a huge part of VooDoo history and we're excited to have him as part of this amazing community event."

Preaux's vs. Jeaux's will be held Saturday at Pan American Stadium. Tickets are only $10 and are available at the New Orleans VooDoo Office at 1515 Poydras St., Suite 100, Ameriprise Financial, PlayNOLA.com, or you may purchase tickets at the gate.
