
Phantoms Add Blake Kessel and Ian Slater

Adirondack Phantoms News Release
Two players from the Trenton Titans' (ECHL) roster will be joining the Adirondack Phantoms. Defenseman Blake Kessel was reassigned by the Philadelphia Flyers to Adirondack. And forward Ian Slater has been recalled from loan by the Phantoms. Both are eligible to play in the Phantoms' next game on Friday night at Connecticut.
Kessel, 23 (4/13/89), played with Adirondack last year in his rookie season and scored 1 goal and 17 assists for 18 points in 56 games. The University of New Hampshire product has played in 31 games with Trenton this year scoring 4 goals and 11 assists. Kessel is a former University of New Hampshire Wildcat who signed with the Flyers organization on September 4, 2011. The Verona, WI native was previously a 6th round selection of the New York Islanders in 2007.
Kessel is the younger brother of Phil Kessel of the Toronto Maple Leafs who has 30+ goals in each of the last four seasons. His sister, Amanda, is a standout with the University of Minnesota and won silver at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver with Team USA.
Slater, 24 (4/18/88), is in his rookie season of professional hockey. The 6'0", 198 pound center has scored 7 goals and 3 assists for Trenton this year in 31 games. The former captain of Western Michigan University and resident of Satellite Beach, FL had played in 151 collegiate games scoring 23 goals and 23 assists over his 4-year career with the Broncos. Slater signed an AHL contract with the Adirondack Phantoms prior to the season and then was loaned to Trenton to begin the campaign.
The Phantoms play back-to-back games against Connecticut this weekend traveling to Hartford on Friday night and then returning for a home matchup in Glens Falls on Saturday night featuring Phantoms drawstring backpacks for the first 1,000 kids presented by UniFirst.
