Alaska and Utah opened the game with a scoreless first period. The Aces outshot Utah 10-5, but Utah had the best scoring chance. Early in the period Utah's Brad Mills hit the post with a shot from the bottom of the right circle.
The Aces opened the scoring early in the second period on a power play. Joey Crabb redirected a shot from the top of the crease at 1:39 to give Alaska a 1-0 lead. The Grizzlies answered at 4:55 when the Aces turned the puck over in their own zone and Chris Donovan scored his second goal of the season to the game 1-1. Utah outshot Alaska 17-6 in the middle period.
The Aces took the lead for good in the third. William Wrenn deflected a Scott Gomez shot at 7:18 to give the lead back to the Aces. Gomez then blasted a slap shot past Utah goaltender Grant Rollheiser at 11:46 to make it 3-1. The goal was set up by a nice saucer pass by veteran Matt Robinson, who registered his first point of the season in just his fifth game of the year. Nick Mazzolini added his team-leading 12th goal of the season into an empty net at 18:43. Utah capped the scoring when Jimmy Martin scored on a shot that bounced off of Gerald Coleman's glove and into the net behind him with 15 seconds to play.
Gerald Coleman (5-0) earned the win in his return to Sullivan Arena making 24 saves on 26 shots. Grant Rollheiser (3-2-1) made 19 saves on 22 shots, suffering the loss. The Aces went 1-2 on the power play and the Grizzlies were 0-2. Alaska was outshot by Utah 26-23 in the game.
