STEAMROLLER: Forward Austin Ortega extended his point streak to five games with four points (3G, A) in the three games last week. His five-game stretch ties him with Zach Aman for the Ice season-high and he now has recorded eight points (4G, 4A) in his last five games and points in nine of his last ten contests (6G, 6A). He leads all Ice players in goals (13), assists (11) and points (24) and is tied for second overall in the USHL in goals.
SHOOTOUT SUCCESS: The Ice took part in their first shootout of the season on Saturday and came out on top as Drew Smolcynski knocked in the lone goal and Dalton Izyk turned back all three Chicago attempts.
PLAYER LEFTOVERS: Woody Hudson tallied a power play goal and shorthanded goal in Saturday's win at Chicago and has five points (3G, 2A) in his last four games....Zach Aman has points in four of his last five contests...Woody Hudson and Robbie Baillargeon scored just :53 seconds apart in Saturday's victory which was the season-best for fastest two goals this year...Austin Ortega's nine shots on Saturday was an Ice season-high...Defenseman Peter Hand returned from the IR this past weekend.
TEAM CRUMBS: The Ice has won two of their last three games on the road and is second only to Omaha (15) with 14 road games this season...Indy is 3-0-0 against Green Bay this year...The Ice is second overall on the power play (23.3%) and third at home (22.7%) and on the road (23.7%) with the man advantage...Indiana only received 11 power plays in the three games last week, compared to 20 received by their opponents.
WILDCAT WALLOP: The University of New Hampshire Wildcats have started the year with an impressive 9-1-2 clip and have been led by a pair of Ice alums in forward Kevin Goumas (09-10) and goaltender Casey DeSmith (09-11). After recording seven points (3G, 4A) in a three-point weekend against Denver and Colorado College, Goumas leads all Hockey East players with 20 points on the season, while DeSmith is the top goaltender in the league with an 8-1-2 record, 1.67 GAA and a .944 save percentage.
