RGV Flash Win Exhibition Match

HIDALGO, Texas - the Rio Grande Valley Flash won their lone pre-season match against the South Texas Devils 6-5 at State Farm Arena on Thursday afternoon.

The Flash took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Angel Hernandez and assisted by Armando Teran. Then the lead increased on a Damian Garcia goal, which came at the three-minute mark of the first quarter. The final goal of the quarter came on a swift counter attack, led by Teran with three tenths of a second left.

The Devils got on the board late in the second quarter when Noe de los Santos found Julio Reyes for their first goal of the match. The Flash responded with a goal under 20 seconds left in the period to take a 4-1 lead into halftime.

The Flash scored a goal in the third quarter to increase the lead to 5-1 but it was not a safe lead. South Texas responded with over a minute left on a goal by Marco Reyna assisted by Eder Baez.

In the last quarter of play, the Devils added three goals, one that came on a power play to tie the game up at five goals apiece. Then with over three minutes left, the Flash added a game winning goal by Damian Garcia.

The win served as a tune-up before the season opener against the Texas Strikers on Saturday November 17th at the State Farm Arena.

The RGV Flash are members of the Professional Arena Soccer League Central Division, with 19 teams located across the United States.
