Weber, Madaisky Assigned by Columbus

EVANSVILLE, IN.The Evansville IceMen have announced on this date the assignments of two first-year pro defensemen by way of their ECHL affiliation connection with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Columbus draft picks, AUSTIN MADAISKY and WILL WEBER have been sent to the IceMen with both players set to make their Evansville premieres Saturday night, October 27th in Kalamazoo where the IceMen will conclude a two-game home-and-home series with the three time reigning ECHL Eastern Conference North Division Champions, the Wings.

MADAISKY (mah-DAYS-key), 20, was selected by the Blue Jackets in the fifth round, 124th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-2, 199lb, right-hand shooting rearguard is coming off a brilliant final campaign in the major junior `A' WHL with the Kamloops Blazers in 2011-12. The Surrey, B.C. product emerged as his club's premiere point-producing blue line ace, registering 50-points in 70-games on 13-goals, 37-assists with a team-best +20 rating. Madaisky sustained his point productivity in the playoffs, averaging nearly a point a game with 9(0-7-7) and 12-PIM. His WHL career totals read: 238-games; 29-goals; 84-assists; 113-points; 281-PIM.

WEBER (WEBB-urr), who will make his IceMen debut one day prior to his 24th birthday, is an American-bred, hailing from Gaylord, Michigan. A four-year standout in the American collegiate ranks at Miami of Ohio University, the strapping 6-4, 226lb left-shooting member of the blue line brigade was selected by Columbus in the second round, 53rd overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He actually saw service late last season with AHL Springfield in 2-games following his senior year with the Red Hawks. In 2011-12 with Miami, O., he recorded 4-assists in 40-games while amassing 69-PIM. In 154-career games at the school; 154(5-25-30) 263-PIM.

Previous to his collegiate career, Weber starred for the Chicago Steel of the USHL where in 2007-08, in 46-games, collected 18-points on 8-goals, 10-assists and 137-PIM.
