Charlotte managed to outshoot the Rockets 67-42 on their way to improving their PLL record to 2-1. Reading remains winless on the season at 0-3.
Charlotte got off to a fast start in the first period going up 5-3 by the end of the first. The lead shrank to only a goal as the Copperheads led 6-5 at half. The Copperheads then took off in the second half increasing their lead to 11-8 by the end of the third. A strong fourth period where the home team outscored Reading 7-2 allowed the Copperheads to cruise to any easy 18-10 win.
"I was proud of how hard the guys worked tonight. Our defense was relentless. We never let their offense get into a groove," said Copperheads coach Tom Ryan. "It was our best performance to date."
The Copperheads were led by Ethan Farrell who tallied four goals. Sam Bradman (left), making his Copperheads debut, also netted a hat trick as did Matt Hickman. Additionally, Greg Rogowski (2), Brian Welch (2), Thomas Langan (1), Ryan Hotaling (1), Nick Cotter (1) and Kevin Iwanusa (1) all pocketed scores for the home team.
Jesse Guerin led the way for the visitors with five goals with support from Andrew Wasik (2), Travis Bland (2), and Brendan Muise (1) all scoring as well.
