Sea Dogs' Liz Riley Nominated for National Award

Portland, Maine- The Eastern League of Professional Baseball has announced their nominees for Minor League Baseball's post-season awards. Liz Riley, the Sea Dogs' Assistant General Manager & Director of Sales/Promotions, is the Eastern League nomination for the Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year.

The Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year award is given out annually to one woman executive from either Major League or Minor League Baseball who has made an outstanding contribution to her club, league or to baseball. Thewinner will be selected by Minor League Baseball and will be honored at the 2012 Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville, Tennessee in December.

Riley, 30 years-old, was promoted to Assistant General Manager in September 2012. In her sixth season with the organization, Riley is responsible for overseeing the teams' corporate sales efforts as well as the teams' promotional efforts. Additionally, she serves as the teams' on-field emcee during games. Riley joined the Sea Dogs as the Assistant Director of Ticketing in 2007 and was quickly promoted to Director of Group Sales. At the end of the 2010 season, she was promoted to the teams' Director of Sales & Marketing/ Promotions. Liz earned a Master's degree in Sport Management from Springfield College and a B.A. in Music from Colby College. Liz is originally from Saco, Maine and now resides in Portland.

In addition to her efforts with the Sea Dogs, Riley is very active in the community. She is a member of PROPEL, a division of the Portland Regional Chamber, where she serves as the Chair of the events committee. Additionally she is a member of the Portland Community Chamber of Commerce, Portland Convention & Visitor's Bureau, and is a Junior Achievement teacher. Riley also served as a mentor with the Goodwill Good Guides Program in Portland.

"I am honored to be nominated by the Eastern League for this prestigious award," stated Riley. "It really is a testament to the talented and experienced staff at the Sea Dogs as this award nomination is a reflection of the entire Sea Dogs' organization."

Despite a struggling economy Liz was able to increase group sales in each of her seasons as Director of Group Sales and continued that trend to increase the teams' corporate sales revenues in each of her two seasons as Director of Sales & Marketing/ Promotions. She has also greatly enhanced the teams' promotional efforts including community based programs such as the "Home Base Program", Poetry Night, Teacher's Appreciation, Leading Woman Awards and much more.

"Liz brings a great deal of enthusiasm and commitment to not only enhancing the organization but also her own skills and those of her co-workers," stated Sea Dogs Executive Vice-President & General Manager Geoff Iacuessa. "She routinely goes above and beyond in delivering for her clients and brings a great deal of creativity in developing new promotions to enhance the fan experience."

The Eastern League also announced that the New Hampshire Fisher Cats are the league's nominee for the John H. Johnson President's Award, and the Reading Phillies are nominated for the Larry MacPhail Promotional Award.

The Sea Dogs will open their 20th season on April 4th at 6:00 PM against the Trenton Thunder (Yankees). Individual tickets for the 2013 season will go on sale on Saturday, November 3rd at 9:00 AM.
