SALT LAKE CITY - Aaron Lesué is no stranger when it comes to setting records with his receiving ability. But last Monday night at the annual Mascot Bowl in Lehi, Utah, the Blaze wide receiver etched his name into the history books in an unexpected way.

Lesué set an official Guinness World Record by hauling in a football that was thrown from an unprecedented height. During a second quarter break from the game, the Utah Jazz Bear tossed the football from a crane that was hoisted 350 feet in the air. The ball was estimated to have reached speeds over 80 miles per hour and despite little preparation, Lesué was able to make the reception much to delight of the thousands of fans in attendance.

The annual Mascot Bowl was established to raise money for the "Firemen and Friends for Kids" charity, offering underprivileged children the opportunity to shop for presents at Christmas time. Each year, mascots from professional sports teams and local universities compete against the Lehi eighth grade football team in a night of family fun.

This season, the "Might Mascots" team was comprised of Blaze mascot Torch, as well as Bear of the Utah Jazz and Miles of the Denver Broncos, among others. Despite a strong effort from the mascots, the Lehi eighth graders were able to come away with a victory.

Several local sports celebrities were on hand to show support for the Mascot Bowl, including Utah Blaze President & Head Coach Ron James, Blaze Offensive Line Coach Ron McBride, NBA coaching great Jerry Sloan, and Utah Jazz star Enes Kanter.
