
Late Runs Help Montgomery Win Second Straight over Jackson

MONTGOMERY, AL - Montgomery won their second straight over the Generals Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium, 6-4. The Biscuits broke a 4-4 tie with two runs coming across in the eighth inning to win it. Jackson remains a 1/2 game back of Chattanooga in the division standings. The game was delayed 48 minutes prior to game time because of rain.
Jackson struck the scoreboard first in the top of the third inning on a 2-run homer by Brad Miller to right. It was Miller's third homer in Double-A.
Montgomery picked up doubles from Shawn O'Malley and Mike Mahtook and scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Biscuits also took advantage of a throwing error in the inning by Jackson pitcher James Gillheeney. Montgomery took a 3-2 advantage.
Johermyn Chavesz tied the game at 3-3 with a triple scoring Jesus Sucre in the top of the sixth inning.
The two teams exchanged runs in the seventh and eighth and the game was tied at 4-4 going to the bottom of the eighth. The Biscuits got RBI doubles from Derek Dietrich and Omar Luna moving ahead of the Generals for good, 6-4.
Reliever Yoervis Medina (3-5) took the loss allowing 2 runs on 3 hits in the eighth inning. Starter James Gillheeney, in his 2012 Jackson debut logged a quality start taking a no decision. Gillheeney allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits over 7.0 innings of work.
Brad Miller notched his 49th multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-5 night, with the homer and 2 RBI. The Generals finished the night 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position with 10 runners left on base.
The Generals continue their 5-game series at Montgomery on Friday night, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. RHP Brandon Maurer (8-2, 3.38) will make the start for Jackson against LHP R.C. Riefenhauser (0-0, 0.00) for Montgomery. The game will only be available on jacksongeneralsbaseball.com and the Generals TuneIn Radio Station.
