Firestone Stadium, Akron, Ohio - July 28, 2012 - With bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, Nicole Pauly (.316) executed at the plate for Akron with a line-drive single, scoring the go ahead and winning run for the Racers to defeat the Diamonds 3-2.After a 1-1 tie in the first inning, a two and a half inning long scoreless streak was broken in the fourth inning when Racers short stop Aja Paculba blasted an (.279) RBI single.
The Diamonds designated player Rachel Folden (.405) tied the score back up to 2-2 in the sixth inning with another RBI single shortly after.
Racers pitcher Erin Arevalo (1-2) and her defense shut down the opportunity for the Diamonds to score after the fourth; Arevalo only gave up one earned run on four hits. This was Arevalo's first win of her professional career.
Tonight was Racers center fielder Lisa Modglin statue giveaway night at Firestone Stadium. This turned out to be appropriate when Modglin (.298) went six for seven (one walk) in batting overall in both games tonight against the Carolina Diamonds.
