Huntsville Stars News Release

JACKSON, Tenn. - After winning the series opener on Thursday night, the Huntsville Stars fell to the Jackson Generals by a score of 7-3 on Friday night at Pringles Park.

For the Stars, their only lead came in the top half of the first inning. Following a two-out double by second baseman Scooter Gennett, a RBI double by first baseman Hunter Morris off of Generals starter Taijuan Walker gave Huntsville a 1-0 advantage. For Morris, the two-bagger was his league-leading 32nd of the season.

From that point on though, the Generals dominated the ballgame. In the bottom of the first, a two-run single by Chih-Shien Chiang gave Jackson a 2-1 lead. One inning later, a solo home run by left fielder Kalian Sams put the Generals up by three. Later in the inning, following a triple, shortstop Leury Bonilla scored on a wild pitch from Stars starting pitcher Evan Anundsen to make the score 4-1.

The score remained that way until the top of the seventh inning, where the Stars made their most valiant attempt at a comeback. Following a leadoff walk by third baseman T.J Mittelstaedt, a two-run, inside-the-park home run by left fielder Lee Haydel cut the Generals lead to one. The inside-the-park homer was the first for any Stars player this season.

Unfortunately for the Stars, Jackson tacked on three combined insurance runs off of Stars relievers Darren Byrd and R.J Seidel in the seventh and eighth innings to pad their lead.

On the pitching side, Generals reliever Carter Capps held the Stars scoreless for the final two innings to notch down his 18th save of the season. The save from Capps preserved a victory for Walker, who improved to 6-5 on the season after giving up just one run and five hits in six innings of work.

For Huntsville, Anundsen took the loss to fall to 5-6 on the season. The 24-year-old righty is now under .500 for the first time all season.

On offense, both Gennett and designated hitter Khris Davis went 2-for-4 at the plate.

The Stars will wrap up a four-game set and their season series with the Generals with a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch of game one is at 5:05 PM.
