Fundraising Fan Fest Set

July 16, 2012 - United States Hockey League (USHL) Waterloo Black Hawks

Waterloo, Iowa-The Waterloo Black Hawks will host the organization's first Fan Fest on Saturday, July 28th, providing initial opportunities to both watch the 2012-2013 team take the ice, then meet the players after the exhibition.

"Each summer, this is a time when there is a lot of enthusiasm building for the season, from players and coaches, and certainly the fans," said Black Hawks head coach P.K. O'Handley. "This event will be an opportunity for our team and fans to reconnect and to introduce some wonderful kids who we are excited to welcome to Waterloo."

The inner-squad tilt will include many of the players who will be Black Hawks this fall, joined by several top recruits from the Hawks' affiliate list. Leading 2011-2012 scorer Taylor Cammarata, recent Chicago Blackhawks draft pick Vince Hinostroza, and NHL prospect Ian McCoshen will be among the veterans who are skating. Expected rookies include Zach Stepan - drafted by the Nashville Predators in June, plus Justin Kloos and Jake Horton, who have each delivered impressive previews during brief stints in Waterloo. After the game, a seven-round shootout will be held, giving players the opportunity to show off their skills.

In addition to the scrimmage, those in attendance will have the opportunity to tour the Black Hawks' locker room before the game begins. Each visitor at Young Arena will receive a commemorative Fan Fest poster and be able to take the ice with the team to skate after the main event. Admission to the Fan Fest includes a complimentary meal.

Limited quantities of new "Black Hawks vs. the World" souvenir t-shirts will also be on sale for the first time. A variety of additional activities will be conducted throughout the evening, highlighted by a special Chuck-a-Puck contest. Two winners will have the chance to choose the shooters participating for each team during the postgame shootout.

All proceeds from the Black Hawks' Fan Fest will help the team travel to the 2012 Junior Club World Cup in Omsk, Russia next month. Fan Fest tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. Kids who are three or under will be admitted for free. Locker room tours and other festivities begin at 5 PM, with the inner-squad game to begin at 6:15. For more information, call the Black Hawks at (319) 232-3444.
