
Scorpions to Celebrate NASL Heritage with Flashback Night

San Antonio, TX (July 5, 2012) - The San Antonio Scorpions will pay tribute to the city's professional soccer history during their next home match with the San Antonio Thunder Flashback Night presented by Liberty Mutual.
The team will celebrate its North American Soccer League history in San Antonio when they take on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, an original NASL team, on Saturday, July 21. Kickoff for the match is set for 7:30 p.m. at Heroes Stadium.
"We want to take the time to remember the roots of professional soccer in San Antonio," Scorpions President Michael Hitchcock said. "Before the Scorpions, it had been 36 years since a team in San Antonio played in the NASL and we want to celebrate the legacy that began in those exciting days for soccer fans in this country. Plus our fans will pay 1976 prices so tickets start at only $4, hot dogs & sodas are only $1 and Parking is free; just like in 1976. Needless to say, this will be the best sports value for San Antonio families in 2012."
On March 31, 1976, the San Antonio Thunder beat the New York Cosmos in San Antonio at Alamo Stadium to kick off the 1976 NASL season. For the Scorpions match with the Strikers on July 21, the team is rolling back the clock and offering fans tickets, food, parking and merchandise at 1976 pricing.
For the San Antonio Thunder Flashback Night, reserved section seating for the match can be purchased prior to the game online, at the STAR Soccer Complex box office or by calling the Scorpions Front Office for only $8. Groups of 10 or more can purchase reserved section seating at $7 per seat. Day of game pricing for reserved seats are $10.
All general admission seating for the San Antonio Thunder Flashback Night can also be purchased online, at the box office prior or by calling the Scorpions Front Office for only $4. Groups of 10 or more can purchase general admission seating at $3 per seat. Day of game pricing for general admission seats are $6.
Select t-shirts and merchandise will be sold for $10.
Parking for the match will be free and hot dogs and sodas will be sold at the concession stands for $1 each.
The Scorpions will announce additional activities and promotions that will pay tribute to the legacy of NASL in San Antonio and the Thunder.
