Racers, OPEN M Partner up for July Series to Help Community

July 3, 2012 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Akron Racers

AKRON, OH-July 3, 2012-The Akron Racers are pleased to announce the OPEN M Support Series, July 19- July 22, against Cat Osterman and the USSSA Florida Pride.

OPEN M is committed to feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, nurturing children, building families, and strengthening the community and the Akron Racers are seeking donations of various canned foods and other items to help support and raise awareness of OPEN M.

Recommended donations include: canned food items, boxed pasta, soup, tuna, canned vegetables, Mac and cheese, cereal, crackers, peanut butter, jelly, pork and beans, tooth brushes, tooth paste and soap.

Promotional nights for the July 19 - July 22 series against the Pride include Chick-Fil-A / Jim Tressel Night (July 19) with free tickets to the ball game available for pick up at the Howe Ave location of Chick-Fil-A in Cuyahoga Falls. University of Akron VP and former Buckeye's head coach Tressel is scheduled to throw out the first pitch and meet with fans on the 19.

The following night, July 20, is Military Appreciation Night where all present and former military personnel can get into the ball game for free by showing their ID at the ticket window. A special discount on tickets is available for friends and families of military personnel. In addition, the Racers will be collecting toys to be donated to Toys for Tots.

July 21 will be the Racers' Beach Party theme night, and July 22 will feature Scout Day and Pepsi Kids Day where all Scouts will receive a special Akron Racers patch and all kids in attendance are entered into a raffle for a Pepsi prize pack. Following the July 22 game, all kids in attendance can run the bases at Firestone Stadium.
