Cardinals Return Favor, Shutout M's 9-0June 26, 2012 - Appalachian League (ApL) Pulaski Mariners
Pulaski starter Rigoberto Garcia left the game after four innings, giving up five runs despite his five strikeouts. Whereas his Cardinals counterpart, RHP Victor DeLeon, got through six innings of shutout baseball. Deleon only threw 68 pitches while striking out five, giving up four hits, and allowing no runs.
Cardinal's centerfielder C.J. McElroy Jr. put together quite a game for a leadoff man. Reaching base four of his five plate appearances (BB, 3B, 1B, 1B) and scoring three of Johnson City's nine runs.
On the bright side, M's second baseman Brock Hebert had himself a day. Playing solid defense in the field and going 3-4 at the plate.
The rubber-match between Pulaski and Johnson City will be played tomorrow, 7p.m at Historic Calfee Park.
WP: DeLeon (1-0) LP: Garcia (1-1)
