Drillers Return Home on Wednesday

June 4, 2012 - Texas League (TL) Tulsa Drillers

The Tulsa Drillers will open an 8-game homestand on Wednesday, June 6 that will run until the following Wednesday, June 13 at ONEOK Field. The Drillers will host the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) for four games June 6-9, followed by another four game series with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals).

It is an important homestand as it will feature the two teams that are closest to Tulsa in the North Division standings of the Texas League. The Drillers have occupied first place in the standings for most of the season, with the first half scheduled to end of June 19.

Along with the great excitement on the field, there is a multitude of special promotions off the field. The highlights of the homestand include Clunker Car Night/Thirsty Thursday on June 8, Mickey Mantle Night/Grand Slam Saturday on June 9, Mascot Mania/Family FUNday Sunday on June 10) and the first edition of the Bobblehead Heroes series on June 11.

Mickey Mantle Night will be highlighted by a commemorative Mickey Mantle #7 T-shirt jersey giveaway to the first 1,500 fans (ages 5 and up). There will also be other tributes to the Hall of Famer and Oklahoma native throughout the night.

The other promotions for the homestand will be Bark in the Park night, Friday Night Fireworks and $2 Tuesday. The homestand will conclude with a day game on June 13 with first pitch scheduled for 12:05PM.

A complete list of promotions with descriptions is below. Tickets for all games in the homestand are now on sale at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office at 201 N. Elgin Ave. and at TulsaDrillers.com. Tickets are also available by calling the Ticket Office at (918)744-5901.

At ONEOK Field: Tulsa is 19-9 at ONEOK Field this season with wins in 3 of their last 4 home games.

Limiting Opponents: The Drillers pitching staff has a combined ERA of 2.52 at home compared to an ERA of 4.21 on the road.

Swept Away: In May, Northwest Arkansas swept a four-game series at ONEOK Field. The Drillers have won only one of eight meetings with the Naturals this season.

FOX 23 BARK IN THE PARK

Dog owners are invited to bring their "best friends" to the ballpark courtesy of 94.1 The Sound. All dogs are admitted free, but they must have proof of up-to-date vaccinations in order to gain admittance. Fans with dogs should enter the park through either the Oil Derrick Entrance or the Arvest (Brady Street) Entrance. Pawcasso's will be offering free doggie snacks on the concourse.

CLUNKER CAR NIGHT/ THIRSTY THURSDAY

It's your chance to leave ONEOK Field in a new ride! KVOO 98.5 presents Clunker Car Night with five "heavily conditioned" vehicles being given away to lucky fans. Entry forms will be available for all driving age fans. Also, it is another Thirsty Thursday with 12 ounce servings of Miller Lite and Bud Light and 16 ounce servings of Pepsi products on sale for only $1 each.

NEWS ON 6 FRIDAY NIGHT FIREWORKS

The most popular night in downtown Tulsa returns with another ONEOK Field Fireworks Show presented by U.S. Cellular. A limited number of free, general admission tickets are available at the U.S. Cellular store at 6703 E. 41st Street.

TULSA'S CHANNEL 8 GRAND SLAM SATURDAY / MICKEY MANTLE NIGHT

Tulsa's Channel 8 presents Grand Slam Saturday and we pay tribute to one of Oklahoma's favorite sons with Mickey Mantle Night. The first 1,500 fans, ages 5 and up, will receive special, commemorative Mickey Mantle #7 jerseys compliments of ONB Bank. These one-of-a-kind jerseys are similar to the new Drillers light blue tops and will be given away at the Oil Derrick and Arvest Entrances only.

2 NEWS WORKS FOR YOU FAMILY FUNDAY SUNDAY / MASCOT MANIA DAY / YOUTH SKILLS CAMP / WILLIAMS BOOK DRIVE

It is another 2 News Works for You Family FUNday Sunday at ONEOK Field. Before the game, youth baseball and softball players will be allowed onto the field for a clinic with the Drillers players. The clinic will run from 12:40-1:20PM, but young players wishing to participate are encouraged to arrive at the stadium at 12:30PM.

The first 500 young fans, ages 12 and under, will get a Kids Eat Free Coupon that is redeemable for a free hot dog, ice cream and milk courtesy of Borden Dairy and K95.

It is also Mascot Mania Day with several of Hornsby's friends, including Raymond from the Tampa Bay Rays, entertaining fans during the game.

After the game and all the activities, all kids will be able to go onto the field to run the bases courtesy of Danny Beck Chevrolet.

Fans are also encouraged to bring books to donate to the Gwen and Steve Malcolm Giving Library that is located at the Hutcherson YMCA.

BOBBLEHEAD HEROES #1

It is the beginning our special Bobblehead Heroes series presented by Primeaux Kia and Z104.5 The Edge. The first 500 fans, ages 5 and up, to enter through the Oil Derrick and Arvest Entrances will receive a bobblehead of former Drillers outfielder Tim Wheeler as the The Dark Knight. It is the first of six Bobblehead Heroes to be given away at Monday night games this season.

2 NEWS WORKS FOR YOU $2 TUESDAY

It's another night of discounts at ONEOK Field with $2 Tuesday presented by Pepsi and 2 News Works For You. General Admission tickets on the Kia Lawn are only $2.00 each, while all other tickets are discounted $3.00 off normal prices. In addition, Driller Dogs, Mazzio's Pizza slices, 21oz Pepsi fountain drinks and jumbo soft pretzels will be on sale for only $2.00 each.

In addition, it is Corona Happy Hour f rom 6:00-8:00PM, with Corona bottles on sale for only $2 each at the Beer Carts located next to Siegi's Sausage Shack behind home plate and next to the BBQ Cart on the third base concourse.

After the game, young fans can go down on the field for a race from home to first base in the Danny Beck Chevrolet Dash for Gas.

TULSA BULL RUN

Inspired by similar events in New Orleans and Denver, the Tulsa Bull Run will feature runners being chased through the streets of downtown Tulsa by Hornsby and the Green Country Roller Girls. The cost is only $10 which includes admission to the Drillers game, a souvenir patch and a bull-angering red sash to wear any way you please. Runners will also receive discounts from nearby businesses on the night of the race!

The Driller homestand concludes with an afternoon game at ONEOK Field presented by 106.1 Gen X Radio. The first 500 young fans will receive Hornsby Anti-Bullying coloring books.
