
BayBears and Generals Split Doubleheader

Mobile BayBears News Release
The Mobile BayBears split Monday's doubleheader with the Jackson Generals at Pringles Park. The BayBears picked up a 2-1 win in the first game, but fell 4-2 on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning in game two. With the split, Jackson ends up taking four out of five over Mobile. The BayBears leave Jackson with a two game lead over the Montgomery Biscuits for first place in the Southern League standings.
In game one, the BayBears got a strong outing from lefty Tyler Skaggs, who earned his second win of the season after throwing five shutout innings, allowing just six hits and exiting the game with a 2-0 lead. Marc Krauss reached base with a one-out double in the fourth inning, then came around to score on two straight wild pitches from Generals starting right-handed pitcher Brandon Maurer. Krauss added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning with a solo home run to put Mobile in front 2-0. Right-handed reliever Evan Marshall would allow one Jackson run to score in the bottom of the seventh, but got out of a bases loaded jam to end the game and record his eighth save.
The BayBears fell in game two by a 4-2 score after a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh off the bat of Francisco Martinez. Righty Yonata Ortega suffered the loss, giving up the walk-off home run with just one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. The BayBears' only two runs of the second game came off the bat of Krauss, who tied the game in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run double. Mobile starting right handed pitcher Conrad Flynn settled for a no decision in game two when he exited after five inngings with the score tied at two.
The BayBears return home, Tuesday, May 22 for a five game series against the Tennessee Smokies at Hank Aaron Stadium with Tuesday's game set for 7:05 PM. RHP Brent Lorin (0-3) will take the hill for the BayBears.
