Mobile BayBears News Release
Matt Davidson powered the Mobile BayBears to a 7-5 victory in extra innings at Hank Aaron Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Davidson's two-out, two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the tenth inning was his second long ball of the day. Sunday's win was Mobile's seventh win in the last eight games.
Mobile came from behind after trailing Chattanooga 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Archie Gilbert put the BayBears on the scoreboard with a RBI single, then David Nick tied the game at three with a soft two-run single to right. Davidson would give Mobile the first lead of the day with a two-run home run to straightaway center. After Chattanooga tied the game at five, scoring three runs in the seventh inning, Davidson stepped into the batter's box in the bottom of the tenth with one on and two outs. Davidson drilled a two-run shot over the left field wall, sealing the BayBears 7-5 victory.
Mobile starting right-hander Derek Eitel settled for a no decision. Eitel pitched seven innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits. Righty Matt Gorgan entered the game in the eighth inning, working two scoreless innings while striking out three. Right-hander Evan Marshall's clean outing in the top of the tenth earned him his second win out of the bullpen.
Chattanooga and Mobile will play the fourth game of the series on Monday, May 14 at 7:05 PM. The BayBears will start RHP Chase Anderson (2-0). The Lookouts will send RHP Nathan Eovaldi (0-2) to the mound. Monday is "Every Monday Matters" at Hank Aaron Stadium, presented by Remington College.
