Burlington Bees News Release
EASTLAKE, Ohio (4/30/12) - The Burlington Bees (12-12) suffered a couple rain delays before the game with the Lake County Captains (8-16) was eventually cancelled. This series was the only scheduled meeting between the two teams and game three will not be rescheduled.
Monday night's game was the rubber match of a three game series with the Captains. Sean Murphy was sched- uled to start, but will instead pitch on Wednesday when the Bees open a three game series with the Quad Cities River Bandits. Murphy is 2-1 on the year with a 1.17 ERA.
The game was originally scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and pushed back to 5:45 p.m. about 50 minutes before the game. The crew took the tarp off the field to tend to the infield, but put reapplied the tarp only minutes after and pushed the start time back to 6:15 p.m.
At 6:21 p.m. Chad Oberacker walked up to the plate to leadoff the game for the Bees. As Oberacker walked behind the umpire on his way to the left-batter's box, the rain started come down again. Mere minutes went by before the crew had to run the tarp back over the field and the game dealt with its final delay. The game was finally called shortly after 7:15 p.m.
The Bees return home for a three game series with Quad Cities on Wednesday. For information on tickets to see Bees baseball, call (319) 754-5705 or visit www.gobees.com.
