AFL Week 8 Power Rankings Announced

CHICAGO - In addition to the weekly AFL Coaches' Poll, AFL Power Rankings will now be published weekly on ArenaFootball.com, the League office announced today.
The rankings are calculated on AFLFieldPass.com using vPower ¢, a scoring system based on winning percentage, strength of schedule, scoring percentage, and win-streak. The scale is normalized from 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest).
AFL Field Pass subscribers have been privy to this information all season, but now all Arena Football fans will have access to these computer-generated rankings.
After hitting the 80-point mark for the third time this season, the Philadelphia Soul once again find themselves on top of the AFL Power Rankings.
The Soul maintain the top spot in the Power Rankings after defeating the Tampa Bay Storm 83-48 on "NET10 Arena Football Friday" on NFL Network last Friday night. The win was Philadelphia's third consecutive victory and further entrenches them as the team to beat in the American Conference.
Coming in second is the Chicago Rush. The Rush bounced back from a Week 6 loss in Georgia with a hard-fought victory over their I-94 rivals, the Milwaukee Mustangs. After two consecutive losses, the Mustangs dropped to 13th.
Rounding out the top five are three West Division teams. After defeating the Iowa Barnstormers for the second time in just over a month, the Utah Blaze leapfrogged the San Jose SaberCats and Arizona Rattlers to move into third place in the AFL Power Rankings. Though the Rattlers two losses have come by a combined total of three points, the team's head-to-head loss to the SaberCats and current strength of schedule have proven to be the difference between spots 4 and 5.
