
Sea Dogs' Zack Phillips Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Zack Phillips of the Saint John Sea Dogs is the CHL Player of the Week for the playoff week ending April 8 after recording nine points in two games scoring four goals with five assists along with a plus-minus rating of plus-5.
Phillips recorded a point in nearly half of the Sea Dogs' goals in the opening two victories of their second round series against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. In Game 1 on Friday night he recorded a four-point game with two goals and two assists as first star of the 9-3 win, and then picked up five-points scoring twice and adding three assists on Saturday as third star of the 10-2 win in Game 2 of the series.
Phillips, a 19-year-old from Fredericton, NB, recorded 80 points in 60 games in his third QMJHL season with the Sea Dogs. Selected in the first round, 28th overall, by the Minnesota Wild in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Phillips is currently leading all QMJHL playoff scorers with 21 points in six games.
Also considered for the award this week was Sven Bartschi who scored three goals and three assists for six points in two games to help the Portland Winterhawks take a 2-0 series lead against the Kamloops Blazers. In the OHL, Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67's scored four goals in three games.
