LOWELL, MASS. - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will make a second attempt at welcoming the Baseball Beanpot back to LeLacheur Park, with the first round Tuesday, April 10 and the Championship Round Wednesday, April 18.

The tournament looked to make its return to LeLacheur Park in 2011, but was rained out. This will be the first time the tournament was played at the home of the Spinners since 2005.

"We are thrilled to welcome the Baseball Beanpot back to LeLacheur Park," said Spinners President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. "While we are still a couple of months away from Spinners' season but this is a chance for four schools with a long tradition of producing top notch players to take the same step forward the Spinners' players do in their goal toward the Major Leagues."

The day will begin when the Boston College Eagles, led by former Spinners player and coach Mike Gambino, take on the Harvard Crimson for a 2:30 first pitch. They will be followed, with a scheduled 6:00 first pitch, by a match-up of the Northeastern Huskies and UMass Minutemen.

A number of former Spinners players have first attended the very colleges participating in the tournament, notably Jason Twomley who played for the Minutemen in the spring of 2005 at LeLacheur, returning later that summer as a member of the Spinners after being drafted by the Red Sox. Other former Spinners include Boston College's Jed Rogers, Northeastern's Dan Milano and Harvard's Zak Farkes.

Admission to the doubleheader is $5 for adults and $3 for students and children, which includes admission to both 9-inning games. The LeLacheur Park concession stands will be open and manned by supporters of the UMass Lowell Riverhawks Baseball program, with all proceeds for concessions stands benefiting the team. Complimentary parking will be available in the dirt lot, directly across the street from LeLacheur Park.
