Detroit Pistons Assign Vernon Macklin to NBA D-League Affiliate Fort Wayne Mad Ants

NEW YORK, March 11, 2012 - The Detroit Pistons today assigned rookie forward Vernon Macklin to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the Pistons' NBA Development League affiliate. The assignment marks the 49th time an NBA player has been assigned to his NBA D-League affiliate during the 2011-12 season and is the first of Macklin's career.

Selected in the second round (52nd overall) in the 2011 NBA Draft from the University of Florida, Macklin has appeared in 19 games for Detroit this season, averaging 1.9 points, 0.9 rebounds and 4.2 minutes.

In two seasons as a Gator, Macklin appeared in 71 games, 69 as a starter. He transferred to Florida following a two-year stint at Georgetown University.
