Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-Red and black-patterned sweaters worn by the Waterloo Black Hawks Saturday night and auctioned after the game generated $4,500 for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, the team announced Tuesday.
The Hawks skated to a 6-3 win in the jerseys featuring Waterloo's 50th Anniversary logo on the chest. Besides the uniforms, which were sponsored by Tyson Fresh Meats, the auction also included a hand-painted, 50 year-logo Black Hawks bell, contributed by Waterloo fan Terry Bromley. Auction proceeds will help the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in its mission to serve individuals and non-profit organizations throughout a 16-county area.
"Each year, Black Hawks fans have generously helped many great, local causes with their bids on our jerseys," said team President Doug Miller. "We're proud to help the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in this way and are grateful for backing from Tyson and everyone who made a bid."
To better serve the communities in their region, the Northeast Iowa Food Bank is currently in the midst of a capital campaign, as the organization prepares to move into a new facility. For more information on ways to contribute, visit northeastiowafoodbank.org.
