Western Pennsylvania Sting hires Pennington

ATHENS, GA - The Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) has announced the hiring of Paul Pennington as the head coach of the Western Pennsylvania Sting.
The indoor coaching veteran takes over a Sting team that replaces the Saginaw Sting, who were suspended from the league. This is his first head coaching gig after serving as the assistant offensive coordinator for the Harrisburg Stampede (AIFA) in 2010. The Stampede set 26 new team records in posting a 12-4 record. They had four offensive all-pro selections and five players were signed to Arena Football League contracts.
Pennington spent two seasons as the assistant head coach of the Erie Freeze (06-07) and one season as the assistant head coach of the Erie River Rats (2009). In all, he has coach 16 all-pro selections during his five seasons as a coach.
A graduate from Malone University (OH), he was a four-year letterwinner and starter for the Pioneers. They won back-to-back Mid-States Football Association titles and qualified for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) playoffs.
He is married to Amy Pennington, and they have three kids Brock (8), Abrianna (6) and Payton (1).
Western Pennsylvania will play the majority of its home games in Johnstown, but will also be playing games in future UIFL locations. A permanent 2013 location will be announced at a later date. This team will maintain all of the Stings UIFL records from 2011 and moving forward.
