Skyforce Knocks off Defending Champs in Home Opener

Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Iowa Energy 117-105 in their home opener Saturday night in front of 4,680 fans. Sioux Falls led by as many as 28 points in the fourth quarter and held of the defending champions to pick up their first win of the season.

Sioux Falls (1-1) led 32-24 after one quarter and pushed the lead to as many as 15 points in the second quarter before settling for a 10-point (59-49) halftime lead.

Charles Garcia posted 11 of his team-high 24 points in the third quarter to help the Skyforce push the lead to 25 points (95-70) after three quarters. Iowa went on a 16-0 run and only trailed 98-86 with 7:41 to go but Sioux Falls made plays down the stretch to pick up the win.

Gabe Pruitt posted 22 points and five assists while Casey Mitchell added 20 points off the bench.

Jarid Famous had a solid game with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Moses Ehambe scored 22 points and Andrew Drevo added 12 in defeat.

Iowa visits Rio Grande Valley in a rematch of the 2011 NBA Development League Finals Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Sioux Falls hosts Los Angeles Friday at 7 p.m. in a game that will be aired live on NBA TV.
