Left wing Chris Chambers has signed to return to the Mississippi Surge, hoping to help the club repeat its Southern Professional Hockey League President's Cup championship.

Chambers, 6-foot-3, 205 pounds has been training hard this summer at his home in Maryland. In 50 games for the Surge last season, he had seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points. He also racked up 113 penalty minutes, and was +6.

"He is certainly a fan favorite here because he works so hard," Coach Jeff Bes said. "You want a guy like that on your team because he will do anything for the team and his teammates."

Chambers is glad to be returning to the Surge.

"I love the fans, the coast, and the tradition of Mississippi.

It's a hard working place and we'll be a hardworking team.

"I bring my lunch pail and hard hat to work," Chambers said. "I'll do anything to win."

The Surge begins the season on October 20th at Augusta, and the home opener is Friday October 28 against Huntsville.

Season tickets for the 2011-12 Surge season are on sale now, with plans starting for less than $10 per game. For more information call the Surge at 228-287-PUCK (7825).
