Montreal Impact News Release

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced Wednesday that midfielder Sinisa Ubiparipovic has joined the club for the remainder of the 2011 season, following a one-week trial. The signing is pending his international transfer.

Ubiparipovic, who will turn 28 on August 25, was born in Bosnia. He played with the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer, from 2007 to 2010. Ubiparipovic played 69 regular season games with the Red Bulls. In 2008, he helped New York reach the MLS Cup final after starting all four playoff games with the team that year.

A graduate of the University of Akron, he was drafted in the third round, 33rd overall, by the Red Bulls in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.

"Sinisa is a creative midfielder who can provoke the opposing defense and make the decisive pass," said Impact sporting director Nick De Santis. "He did well at training over the last few days. He's a player with great qualities that will help us at midfield. He already knows several players so I don't think he will have trouble fitting in the team."

With the addition of Sinisa Ubiparipovic, the Impact has now 26 players on its roster. He will wear No. 28.

The Impact will play its next game, on Saturday, August 6, at 8pm at Saputo Stadium against the Minnesota Stars and will unveil its MLS logo. Tickets for this game are still available through Admission Network (admission.com / 514-790-1245) or at Saputo Stadium's ticketing office.
