Hammerheads to Host Silent Auction for Pink Ribbon Project

Wilmington, NC- Saturday, July 23, the Wilmington Hammerheads take on their in state rival the Charlotte Eagles at Legion Stadium at 7:30pm. In a joint effort with the New Hanover Medical Center Foundation, the Wilmington Hammerheads will host a "Pink Out" on Saturday night that will include a silent auction and informational tables for breast cancer early detection and awareness.

Saturday's silent auction will give fans a chance to bid on one of a kind pink Hammerhead jerseys that the players will be wearing against the Charlotte Eagles. The auction will take place at the front entrance of Legion Stadium before the game from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The highest bidders will be announced on the field at halftime by WECT news anchor Frances Weller.

A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit the Pink Ribbon Project. Proceeds from the Pink Ribbon Project provide funding for local women, without health insurance or other financial resources, to receive mammography screenings at one of five approved NHRMC regional sites.

The Hammerheads urge all fans to wear pink to create a "Pink Out" in the stands to show support for anyone who has been affected by breast cancer. The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation will be present at the front of the stadium with informational tables about breast cancer early detection, awareness, and information about the Pink Ribbon Project.

The Hammerheads would also like to invite anyone who is either currently battling or has survived cancer to participate in our human tunnel on the field immediately before kickoff!

Tickets for this event can be purchased online at www.wilmingtontickets.com, by calling the Hammerhead ticket line at 910-777-2111 ext. 10, or at the ticket booth on game day. The ticket booth will open at 5:30pm on Saturday.
