Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, NY - The Bowie Baysox collected 14 hits and defeated the Binghamton Mets 7-4 tonight at NYSEG Stadium. In six games against Bowie this season, Binghamton has allowed an average of twelve hits per game.
B-Mets starting pitcher Brandon Moore was saddled with the loss, his seventh of the season. The right-hander allowed eight hits, including four that never left the infield.
After Moore allowed a run in the first, Binghamton answered back with a run off Tim Bascom in the bottom of the inning. Allan Dykstra's double to the opposite field scored Josh Satin from second and knotted the game at one.
It would turn out to be Binghamton's final run against Bascom on the night. The right-hander bounced back with six scoreless innings, allowing just three more hits along the way. He set a season-high with seven innings and retired the final seven B-Mets he faced en route to his fourth win of the year.
While Binghamton was kept in check, the Bowie offense was alive and well. They racked up five more hits against Moore, including two in the fourth inning.
After Pedro Florimon singled and stole second in the frame, he came home to score on a throwing error by Jose Coronado. With two outs, Kyle Hudson sent a weak bouncer to short. Coronado charged and fired a low throw to first that skipped past Travis Ozga and allowed Florimon to come home. The Baysox never looked back after taking the lead.
Brad Holt tossed a scoreless fifth and gave way to Erik Turgeon in the sixth. Bowie collected four runs against the righty on three hits, capped by Joe Mahoney's three-run home run. The Baysox added another run on Brandon Waring's solo homer off Michael Powers in the seventh.
Trailing by six, Binghamton scratched out a run off reliever Armando Gabino in the eighth and added two more on a home run from Jordany Valdespin in the ninth before the comeback ran dry.
The B-Mets (29-51) continue their series against Bowie tomorrow night at 6:35pm. LHP Robert Carson (2-7, 4.25) will take the rubber against LHP Richard Zagone (2-6, 4.71). The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show begins at 6:20pm on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
