Dream Signs Guard Shannon McCallum

ATLANTA, April 28, 2011 - The Atlanta Dream announced today the team has signed guard Shannon McCallum to a training camp contract.
McCallum, a 5-10 guard, led the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to a school-record 27 victories and a WNIT Final Four appearance last season as a senior. The three-time All-Atlantic 10 selection led the 49ers in scoring, averaging 13.0 points per game. She ranked fourth on the team in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and second in steals (60).
McCallum was named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State team three times in her collegiate career. She finished her career fourth in Charlotte's all-time scoring list with 1,525 career points and appeared in a school-record 130 games. McCallum ranks in Charlotte's top ten in field goals attempted, field goals made, three-point field goals made, three-point field goals attempted, free throws attempted, free throws made, rebounds, assists, steals, blocked shots and minutes played.
The Atlanta Dream is the defending Women's National Basketball Association's (WNBA) Eastern Conference Champion. The team tips off the 2011 season at home on June 5 against the New York Liberty at Philips Arena. The Dream enters its fourth season this summer as part of the WNBA, the world's longest-running women's professional sports league.
