Quebec Kebs Leave The PBL

Quebec City, Canada- The Quebec KEBS announced today their decision to leave the Premier Basketball League (PBL) after 3 years of association. The decision was taken during a Board meeting of the Quebec Professional Basketball Club when all the teams, except the RazorSharks of Rochester, announced their departure in support to the protest against referee irregularities during the playoffs.

Taken into consideration that the Quebec Kebs were eliminated during the semifinals against the RazorSharks of Rochester succeed by a record of penalties given by the referees who were from the same region as their opponents. The controversial choice of referees was taken by the administrators PBL whose CEO is also the owner of the Rochester team.

"Given the obvious lack of ethics and integrity of the league in playoffs, we have no choice but to leave the league. This inconceivable situation could have possibly cost us a participation in the finals or maybe even the Championship, "commented Kebs President, Mr. Conrad Bernier. The Quebec Kebs had an outstanding season in 2011 with 14 victories and 6 defeats, who was by far their best season ever. The Kebs would like to underline that even though the current situation, the PBL offered an excellent quality of players, coaches, and entertainment to all amateur basketball fans. The KEBS are confident of finding an alternative to PBL in the coming weeks, as they want to continue their mission in developing the sport in Quebec. "We are sorry of our departure from the PBL, but we are working very hard to explore the best opportunities available to maintain a high level of professional basketball in the Quebec City region" commented Vincent Bernier, Vice-President of the Quebec Kebs. Please note that the league did not responded to the protest request on the irregularities highlighted by the Kebs. The Cavalry of Lawton-Fort Sill has also suffered the same fate as the Kebs given the same conditions of arbitration.
