Washington Stealth News Release
Everett, Wash. - The National Lacrosse League's Washington Stealth announced today that left-handed forward Peter Morgan will be moved to the injured reserve list retroactive to January 22, due to continuing symptoms from a concussion suffered in the Stealth's season opener on January 8. As a result, the Stealth has signed rookie forward Martin Cummings to the active roster, pending league approval.
Morgan joins forwards Jeff Zywicki and Joel Dalgarno on the injured reserve list, while defenseman Kyle Sorensen is on the physically unable to perform list following an injury suffered while playing for the Peterborough Lakers last summer.
Morgan has appeared in just one game in 2011, his tenth NLL season. Morgan appeared in 13 regular season games with the Stealth last season, tallying eight goals and 14 assists in a transition player role. He played two games in the postseason; his third-quarter goal in the Champion's Cup Final sparking the eight-goal run that led to the Stealth's 15-11 victory over the Toronto Rock.
Cummings was signed by the Stealth as a free agent last August, and after an impressive training camp earned a spot on the Stealth practice roster to start the season. Cummings has spent two summer seasons with defending Western Lacrosse Association Champion New Westminster Salmonbellies in British Columbia. In 28 career regular season games with the Salmonbellies, the 6'3", 175-pound forward has recorded 48 points (25g, 23a). He was a Junior 'A' All-Star with Port Coquitlam in 2008, where he posted 57 points (29g, 28a) in 2008.
The changes in the Stealth roster will be effective for this weekend's home-and-home doubleheader with the Edmonton Rush. The Stealth travels to Edmonton on Friday, February 11 for a 6:00pm PST start. The following night, the teams with square off at the Comcast Arena at 7:30pm PST. Tickets for the game are still available and can be purchased by calling 877-MY-75-TIX or at www.stealthlax.com.
