Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs announced Tuesday that defenseman Tyrone Sock has been reassigned to the Miramichi Timberwolves of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League.
The 17-year-old from Elsipogtog, N.B., filled in capably on the blueline in the first half, suiting up for 22 games and registering one assist and eight penalty minutes to go with a plus-2 rating. Sock will remain with the organization as an affiliate player.
"He's a very good prospect for our club. With the trades for Eric Gelinas and Jason Seed, and the depth we had on our blueline, we thought it was best for Tyrone to play a lot in Junior A and continue his development," said Sea Dogs head coach Gerard Gallant.
Sock was a fourth-round pick in the 2009 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft. He made his Sea Dogs debut last year, getting into one game, and also played for Team Atlantic at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, alongside current Sea Dogs Jason Cameron, Aidan Kelly and Ryan Tesink.
Meanwhile, the Sea Dogs are running a special promotion this week only, offering half-season ticket packages, which include rights to purchase playoff packages. This is the final opportunity to avoid long gameday lineups for playoff tickets.
This special offer must be purchased at the Sea Dogs office on the second floor of Harbour Station, and ends at 5 p.m. Friday. Prices are as follows: Adult Lower Bowl $198, Adult Upper Bowl $170, Senior (60+)/Student Lower Bowl $184, Senior/Student Upper Bowl $156, Youth (14 and under) Lower Bowl $149, Youth Upper Bowl $121.
Saint John's next home game is Tuesday at 7 p.m. against the Prince Edward Island Rocket (20-18-1-2). Top 2011 NHL draft prospect Sean Couturier and the Drummondville Voltigeurs (26-11-5-1) will be in town for a pair of games Friday (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (7 p.m.) at Harbour Station. Tickets to all upcoming Sea Dogs home games can be obtained by visiting www.tickets.harbourstation.ca.
