The Kitchener Rangers traveled to Brampton today to close out a preseason series with the Battalion.
The Rangers scored the only goal of the first period when Tobias Rieder deflected a point shot from Evan McEneny at 10:03. The Rangers held a 13-7 advantage in shots.
Sean Jones tied the score at 1-1 when he converted a cross ice pass to beat Brandon Maxwell at 1:48 of the second period.
Jones made it 2-1 with the Battalion on a two man-advantage after Charlie Dodero and Branden Morris both picked up back-to-back delay of game penalties.
The Battalion scored their second power play goal of the game only moments later to jump into a 3-1 lead when Maxwell was beat to the short side.
Sean Jones scored his 3rd goal of the game while the Battalion were enjoying their 2nd two man advantage of the period. Jones beat Maxwell from the side of the net.
Jason Akeson answered back for the Rangers at the 55-second mark of the 3rd period when he received a pass from Ryan Murphy and drilled a wrist shot high under the crossbar.
Zach Lorentz scored his 3rd goal in three games at 5:06 to make the score 4-3.
Lorentz had just moments earlier hit the crossbar before picking up a rebound off a Dodero point shot and snapping home the Rangers third goal of the game.
The Rangers Exhibition record now sits at 1-1-1 with two games remaining against the Niagara Ice dogs.
Jeff Skinner, Cody Sol, Jeremy Morin, Jesse Young, Jonathan Jasper, Andrew Crescenzi and Matt Tipoff did not dress for the Rangers. The Rangers return home on Friday, September 17th to face the Niagara IceDogs at 7:30pm.
