Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - The Lewiston MAINEiacs are pleased to announce a new exclusive radio partnership with Gleason Media Services! All 68 regular season and playoff game broadcasts for the 2010-11 campaign will air on WEZR-AM 1240 (Auburn), WTME-AM 780 (Rumford), and WKTQ-AM 1450 (South Paris).
In conjunction, each game will also be streamed live on the MAINEiacs official website, www.lewistonhockey.com, along with www.wezr1240.com, and also as part of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's TELUS live video webcasts.
"The Gleason family of radio stations has been providing quality local news, information, and entertainment for decades," said MAINEiacs Managing Consultant & Governor Bill Schurman."We are proud that Gleason Media has teamed up with the MAINEiacs to help share our excitement of the season ahead with our fans."
For the upcoming year, the agreement includes pre- and post game shows, and a weekday morning MAINEiacs Update segment that will air on all 5 stations in the Gleason radio group, which also includes stations WOXO 92.7 FM (Norway) & 100.7 FM (Mexico).
"I am very grateful that Bill has put his confidence in my radio and internet organization," mentioned Dick Gleason, President of Gleason Media Services. "We will provide quality service and continuous coverage not just with all games, but also with daily radio reports."
Gleason noted further that he understands the financial significance of the QMJHL franchise in the Lewiston / Auburn regional marketplace and just how critical long term success of it is to the vicinity.
"The MAINEiacs are an important economic driver to the area and we all must do everything we can to unite behind them," he said.
Gleason Media Services is a Maine owned company, serving the citizens of the state since 1975. In addition to radio, it also provides internet marketing based services via LewistonAuburn.com, an online directory to many local businesses in the area, along with regional email news and marketing information through LAAlerts.com.
Along with the move on the radio dial, the organization is also happy to announce that Alex Reed will return to the airwaves as the play-by-play voice of the team. Reed, who first joined the organization for the 2007-08 season, is entering his third season of calling all the action on the new radio homes of the MAINEiacs Radio Network.
Reed will be joined in the broadcast booth once again by DJ Abisalih, who will provide color commentary, interviews, and occasional play-by-play.
While there was speculation that the MAINEiacs may not have returned to the airwaves in the season ahead, the agreement brought a sense of relief to one particular fan.
"I'm thrilled that the MAINEiacs are going to be back on the radio," said Dan Auger, a long time MAINEiacs season ticket holder from Greene. "It's important that we can listen to the games either over the air and online at www.lewistonhockey.com."
The Inaugural LA Cup kicks off later this week as the training camp squads split and battle one another in a two game, two day, total goal tournament! The puck drops at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee Thursday and Friday nights at 7 PM! Admission is by in-kind donation only.
The only preseason game in Lewiston is this Saturday afternoon at 4 PM as the MAINEiacs face off against the division rival Victoriaville Tigres! Tickets are just $5, and FREE for season ticket holders and children 12 and under!
The 2010-11 regular season begins September 10 & 11 as the MAINEiacs host former coach Clem Jodoin and the Rimouski Oceanic for a pair of games Friday and Saturday. With Rimouski and Lewiston projected to battle for the top of the TELUS East division, this is rivalry that should not be missed!
