NORWICH-The Hudson Valley Renegades (23-23) took advantage of 12 walks to win 12-0 over the Connecticut Tigers (26-22) before 2,125 fans at Dodd Stadium on Friday night.
The Renegades opened the scoring with a single run in the third inning against RHP Josue Carreno (3-5). RF Burt Reynolds (0-3) walked and stole second base. He moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by SS Dio Luis (1-2) to make it 1-0.
Hudson Valley tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning. DH Robby Price (1-4) walked and moved to third base on a double by 2B Elias Otero (4-6).
3B Nick Schwaner (2-5) hit a sacrifice fly to score Price and 1B Phil Wunderlich (3-5) doubled home Otero. Hudson Valley tacked on another run in the inning to make it 4-0.
Three more runs came across the in the seventh inning for Hudson Valley to make it 7-0. Schwaner belted a two-run home run in the inning.
Hudson Valley scored five runs in the ninth inning to seal a 12-0 win.
The Tigers head to Brooklyn, NY to battle the Brooklyn Cyclones on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. RHP Brennan Smith (0-3, 2.97) gets the start for Connecticut against RHP A.J. Pinera (1-3, 2.36) for Brooklyn. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
