Atlanta Silverbacks News Release
ATLANTA, GA - The Atlanta Silverbacks will take on the Buffalo Flash in the 2010 W-League Semifinals on Thursday, July 29th at 8 PM EST in Santa Clarita, California. The winner of the game will then play for the W-League Championship against either the Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues or the Vancouver Whitecaps. The final will be broadcast on the Fox Soccer Channel at 10 PM EST on July 31st.
Atlanta (9-2-1) moves on to the semifinals after successfully defeating the New Jersey Wildcats and Charlotte Lady Eagles in the Eastern Conference Championship. The Silverbacks blew out the Wildcats, before winning a close match against the Lady Eagles to advance.
Meanwhile, the Buffalo Flash (12-0-2) have given opposing teams fits all season long. The strength of the team lies in the defense - in the 14 games played this season, Buffalo has allowed only five goals, helping to preserve their undefeated season.
The Flash offense is no slouch either - midfielder Kelly Parker was named to the 2010 W-League All-League team after leading the entire league in goals (11) and points (27). Even more impressive was that she accomplished the feat in just seven games played. This marks her fourth time on the All-League team, after earning League MVP honors in 2004. Forward Veronica Boquete also led the league in assists (7) in just five games played.
The Silverbacks will look to veteran defenders Tara Minnax and Ronda Brooks to keep the defense sharp, while midfielders Alexa Newfield and Megan Tomlinson will pace the Atlanta attack.

MEGAN TOMLINSON NAMED TO 2010 W-LEAGUE ALL-LEAGUE TEAM
Atlanta midfielder Megan Tomlinson has been named to the 2010 All-League team after she helped lead the Silverbacks to the W-League Final Four. Tomlinson led all Atlanta players in goals (5) and shots (26), and was second on the team in assists (3).
The University of Georgia standout has played every minute of every game this season for Atlanta, the only player on the team to claim such a feat. She will look to lead the Silverbacks as they make their push for the league title.
