Dayton Gems News Release
The Dayton Gems Ownership Group in conjunction with WWRD Television are pleased to announce that they have reached a mutual agreement to televise up to 20 regular season home games per season over the next two years.
"This represents another huge step forward for the Dayton Gems as we prepare to enter our second season of play," said Jeff Kuntz, Director of Corporate Partnerships for the team. "Having our games on television will be exciting for our fans and will also create opportunities for our corporate partners to connect with our supporters, increasing the value of their partnership with the Gems."
Once the 2010-11 regular season schedule is released later this month the Gems and WWRD will work together to determine which games to air. WWRD currently airs on Time Warner's basic cable package (channel 22) in many Dayton area markets; however, prior to the beginning of the Gems season, WWRD will be airing Dayton-wide on Time Warner's Digital cable package.
"We are very excited about the new partnership with the Dayton Gems hockey team," said WWRD President Anthony Byrd. "It is vital to us here at WWRD-TV that we promote and support local teams, especially when a professional one is in our own backyard. We feel proud and honored that we will be bringing exciting game coverage to Dayton and the surrounding viewing areas."
"I want to thank the executives at WWRD for their support in our organizations working together for the betterment of the hockey community in Dayton," said Gems President Rob Garfield.
