Minnesota Wild Re-Signs Matt Kassian, Nate Prosser

HOUSTON - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed LW Matt Kassian to a two-year contract and D Nate Prosser to a one-year contract. Both players signed two-way contracts.

Kassian, 23 (10/28/86), recorded six points (2-4=6) in 59 games with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2009-10 and led the club with 149 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-foot-5, 245-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, has tallied nine points (3-6=9) and 327 PIM in 134 contests in parts of three seasons with Houston. He was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (57th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Prosser, 24 (5/7/86), was signed as a free agent by the Wild on March 18 after completing his senior season at Colorado College. The native of Elk River, Minn., recorded an assist in his NHL debut at Edmonton on April 5, becoming the sixth Minnesota native to play in a game for the Wild. He appeared in the final three games of the 2009-10 season and averaged 19:36 in ice time, a +2 rating and eight PIM. Prosser posted 28 points (4-24=28) in 39 games for Colorado College and ranked second in the WCHA in defensemen scoring. He totaled 64 points (12-52=64) in 137 games over four seasons with the Tigers. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound blueliner was a two-time all-conference selection at Elk River High School.
