Published on May 7, 2010 under Western Hockey League (WHL) News Release

Calgary, AB - Michael Stone and the Calgary Hitmen welcome Brendan Shinnimin and the Tri-City Americans for Game 5 of the 2010 WHL Championship on Friday night.

Friday's contest between the Hitmen and Americans can be seen LIVE throughout western Canada on SHAW, SHAW HD channel 311 and SHAW Direct channel 299 (7:00pm MT), and tape delayed on FSN Northwest (10:30pm PT).

The Hitmen dropped a 4-2 decision to the Americans in Game 4 of the best-of-seven series on Wednesday night in Kennewick, WA, but still hold a 3-1 lead in the series. The Hitmen have the chance to win the 2010 WHL Championship in front of a home crowd with a victory over the Ams on Friday. Wednesday's defeat to the Ams snapped a seven-game playoff win streak for the Hitmen.

The Americans staved off elimination with their 4-2 win at home over the Hitmen on Wednesday night, but need to win again at the Pengrowth Saddledome on Friday if they want to stay alive in the series. The Ams scored four goals in Wednesday night's win after scoring just two goals through the first three games, combined.

Only one team in WHL history has ever come back to win a playoff series after being down 0-3. The Spokane Chiefs dropped the first three games of their 1996 opening-round series versus Portland before storming back to win four straight and take the series.

Should the Americans win Game 5, the series will head back to Kennewick for Game 6 on Sunday night.

The winner of the 2010 WHL Championship series will hoist the Ed Chynoweth Cup and join the Brandon Wheat Kings as well as the OHL and QMJHL Champions in the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup tournament later in May.
