WHL Playoff Hockey Live On SHAW: Wednesday, May 5 - Calgary Hitmen at Tri-City Americans

Published on May 5, 2010 under Western Hockey League (WHL) News Release

Calgary, AB - Kruise Reddick and the Tri-City Americans take on Ian Schultz and the Calgary Hitmen for Game 4 of the 2010 WHL Championship on Wednesday night.

Wednesday's contest between the Hitmen and Americans can be seen LIVE throughout western Canada on SHAW and SHAW Direct channel 299 (7:00pm PT), and tape delayed on FSN Northwest (11:00pm PT).

The Hitmen skated to a 4-1 win over the Americans in Game 3 of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday night in Kennewick, WA, giving them a commanding 3-0 lead in the series and leaving them one win away from capturing their second WHL Championship in franchise history. The Hitmen have won seven straight post-season games, dating back to Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Championship series, and have not lost on the road since a 4-3 overtime setback to the Tigers in Medicine Hat on April 6th in the second round.

The Americans find themselves in a precarious 0-3 hole in the series, and will look to avoid becoming the third team in the last five seasons to be swept in the WHL Final. The Americans have scored just twice on 78 shots through the first three games of the series versus the Hitmen.

Only one team in WHL history has ever come back to win a playoff series after being down 0-3. The Spokane Chiefs dropped the first three games of their 1996 opening-round series versus Portland before storming back to win four straight and take the series.

Should the Americans win Game 4, the series will head back to Calgary for Game 5 on Friday night.

The winner of the 2010 WHL Championship series will hoist the Ed Chynoweth Cup and join the Brandon Wheat Kings as well as the OHL and QMJHL Champions in the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup tournament later in May.
